
Robert Claiborne practices architecture in Montreal, Canada. He founded Studio 451 in 2002 with the aim of pursuing a long-held interest in architecture's ability to enrich life through creative and original investigations of the built environment. In 2007 he won an international competition for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad Serbia. Additionally, he has received honor awards for his competition entries for the Jyväskylä Music and Arts Hall in Finland, and for the Theatre of Terrebonne in Quebec. Born and raised in California he received a B.Arch from California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo in 1985, and a MA in architecture from SCI-Arc in 1993. Following graduate school he joined the studio of Daniel Libeskind in Berlin, Germany and collaborated as lead designer on several international design competitions and projects including the Alexanderplatz Masterplan, The Felix Nussbaum Museum, the Bremen Concert Hall, Santiago de Compostela Cultural Center, The Denver Art Museum expansion, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the World Trade Center Competition, and the Hong Kong Government Center. Robert has taught design studios at Cal Poly-Pomona, The University of Southern California, The University of Toronto, and in the fall of 2004 joined McGill as an adjunct faculty.
